Using Stripe Tax with Voma

This guide will show you how to use Stripe Tax with Voma

Stripe Tax is a paid service designed to automate your tax management, minimizing errors and saving you time. While using Stripe Tax is not required to use Voma, we recommend it because it can make managing your taxes easier. For more information about Stripe Tax, please refer to Stripe's documentation.

How to Enable Stripe Tax

Stripe Tax is designed to help businesses:

• Automatically calculate taxes based on the customer's location, the type of product or service sold, and other relevant factors.
• Collect taxes including sales taxes, value-added taxes (VATs), or goods and services taxes (GSTs).
• Report taxes.

Step 1: Create a Stripe account

To use Stripe Tax, you'll first need to create a Stripe account. You can sign up by visiting the Stripe website. If you need help with this process, you can follow our guide for assistance.

Step 2: Configure your tax settings

To configure your tax settings, navigate to the "Tax" tab in the Stripe Dashboard. From here, you'll be able to set up your tax rates and rules for different regions. You can also choose which products or services are taxable, and set up tax exemptions for certain customers.

When setting up your tax rates, make sure to review the tax regulations for the regions where you do business. Stripe Tax provides default tax rates for many regions, but you may need to adjust these to comply with local regulations.

Step 3: Test your integration

After setting up your tax settings, it's important to test your integration to ensure everything is working correctly. To do this, create a test transaction in your Stripe account and verify that the tax is calculated properly.

To create a test transaction, go to the "Payments" tab in the Stripe Dashboard and click "Create payment link". Enter a test payment amount and choose a test credit card number to complete the transaction. Once the transaction is processed, review the details to confirm that the tax calculation is correct.

📑  Note: Once Stripe Tax is enabled inside of Stripe, there is nothing else you need to do in Voma!
